Research and development
Geocore is an R&D driven company. We develope many of the modules we use in consultancy ourselves.
In addition to our inhouse development, we have capacity to cooperate with others on R&D projects. Main focus is on post-processed seismic,
but other G/G topics are also of interest. Our main platform for development is Matlab, but we also use native c for parallel high
efficiency code.
Geophysical projects
- Seismic modelling
- Current seismic modelling tools range from 1D profile to 3D pseudo-Kirchoff full field
- We have focused on building a proper 2D model builder
- Inversion software
- We have a strong belief in data driven methods both post and prestack. Our prototypes are thus not dependent on background models.
- Timeshift estimation
- Currently, the best way to do timeshift estimation is by Taylor expansions, which also allows for multivintage simultaneous estimation.
We have long experience in this way of estimating timeshifts.
- 3D merge and match
- Many merges lack control on seismic phase and frequency content. We have been working on automatically estimating
seismic phase and thus be able to align and zero phase subvolumes to a consistent volume.
- Multi vintage methods
- Many vintages of 4D surveys often generate an overwhelming number of datasets. True multivintage methods should
reduce the number of datasets to a consistent timeseries.
Multidisciplinary projects
- Seismic modelling of reservoir models
- 3D sim2seis - Pseudo-Kirchhoff modelling
- Quick Stochastic Volumetrics
- Volumetrics tend to be too simple or too complex. We have been working to define statistical distributions that naturally captures the
explorationists knowledge about the prospect. Besides that a natural goal is simplicity.
- Integrated G&G modelling methods
- There are many attemts on integrating G&G. Seismic consistent geomodels is a first step, handling the uncertainty
in both geology and geophysics.
